Women are underrepresented in tech companies and careers. That problem has roots in the lack of diversity in venture capital leadership and portfolios.
Women make up less than 10% of senior executives at VC firms. In 2019, only about 2.8% of all-female founding teams received funding across the entire U.S. startup ecosystem. The lack of female representation in leadership positions at top companies and firms is a growing problem. Because venture capital is seeding the high growth companies of tomorrow, having a lack of diversity across the funding landscape perpetuates the same results in the market. In order to create change (not to mention to unlock economic opportunities), women have to support other women to break this cycle. Join General Assembly and our female leaders to discuss:
- The benefits of having a diverse and inclusive set of decision makers
- How to recognize and acknowledge unconscious bias
- Mentorship and other ways women can champion other women
- How to build a strong network
